What do you need to know about getting trained for a CDL? First, you may already be aware that there are plenty of CDL schools you can attend. However, it’s important to keep in mind that attending and even passing these school programs does not guarantee immediate employment as a trucker. Look into a paid CDL program instead.
Essentials for getting your CDL
There are same basic requirements to getting your CDL. Make sure you can check all the following off the list:
- A relatively clean driving record
- A clean criminal record
- Good bill of health from your doctor
- Proof you’re able to work in the U.S.
- Lack of drug/alcohol problems in the recent past
Trucking is unique, but in some ways it’s like any other job. Employers aren’t going to want to hire you if you have a troubling history. The good news is that as long as these basic things aren’t an issue, you’re good to start training!
